COMMUTATORS & SLIP RINGS

A commutator is an arrangement of insulated copper segments (bars) that are connected to coils of an electric motor to provide a reversal of current into the coils of the motor.

The assembly is insulated on the rotor shaft and the copper blades are connected to the anchor windings. Permanently installed carbon brushes make contact with the collector and provide power to the anchor windings.
Our product line includes most common types of commutators used in today’s industrial applications and they can be grouped as; hook type, barrel and planer (face type) types of commutators. These are also constructed with several different methods of manufacturing mostly depending on application criteria and design of the motor.

With over 50+ years experience in the industry, we offer approx 800 types of commutators with OD 4mm up to 385mm moulded type of construction and also custom made (handcrafted) commutators for larger machines with steel and mica construction. The rage for this type of had crafted commutators is OD from 50mm up to 1400mm. Our slip ring range between 25mm ~ 300mm.

We supply highly reliable moulded segment-hook type commutators for applications in the automotive, home appliance, power tool, marine and military applications. To meet the needs of high-speed motors such as in vacuum cleaners, we can provide reinforced ring commutators as well as high speed and high-temperature applications.

BARREL COMMUTATORS:

OD: 5mm ~ 385mm
For DC motors, automotive starter motors, power tools, home appliances and other industrial applications. we also offer Mica-moulded barrel-type commutators designed to stand the rigorous environments.

FACE COMMUTATORS:
OD: 25mm ~ 120mm  

In addition to hook and barrel type commutators, we also manufacture face type commutators for automotive, industrial motor, medical such as servo motors, air condition motors etc..

SILVER PLATED COMMUTATORS:
OD: 25mm ~ 120mm

Molding Compound

The quality of commutators also depends on the selection of the correct Molding compound. We use a phenolic resin moulding compound with reinforced glass fibre imported from Japan, USA, Germany.

Rings

Steel or fibreglass rings are used for reinforcing the commutators for high-speed applications.

Bore

The bore may be reinforced by a steel or brass bush. It is ideal for pressing of commutator on the shaft.
